This January marks the 15th Annual National Mentoring Month. Lutheran Social Services Mentoring Programs are supporting this national effort by celebrating the success of hundreds of mentor-student relationships in Lincoln and Minnehaha County. To heighten awareness and to give people a chance to try mentoring, LSS will host three “Try-It” sessions in January. Events will be held on January 24 from 11:30-12:30 at Harrisburg Liberty Elementary, January 25 from 11:45-12:45 at Garfield Elementary and on January 27 from 11:15-12:15 at Cleveland Elementary.
Potential mentors are invited to attend a session where they will complete a project and eat lunch with students who are waiting for a mentor. The event is a sample of what a volunteer would do should they choose to apply to become a mentor with the LSS Everyday Heroes Mentor Program. If interested in attending, please RSVP by January 13 to Mentoring@LssSD.org or call us at 605-221-2403.
