With more than 40 sites needing cleanup from the October 4th blizzard, volunteers are needed now more than ever to assist those in need with debris clean up. Volunteers do not need specific skills, just need to be willing to lend a hand.
VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster) is looking for volunteers to assist on June 21 and 22. “Volunteers play a crucial part in our community, especially helping disabled and elderly get back to their normal lives,” said Lisa Adler of Lutheran Social Services and President of South Dakota VOAD.
People who would like to volunteer in Pennington, Lawrence, Meade, Custer, Fall River or Butte County are asked to call the Helpline Center at 2-1-1. To volunteer in any other counties not listed, please call the Helpline Center toll-free at 1-877-708-4357. Individuals and volunteer teams will be contacted by a volunteer coordinator to receive their assignment.
